Dear conference participants,
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the International Biometric Conference 2022 in the capital of Latvia – Riga.
I would like to invite you to visit Riga – the city of the conference, which is not only Latvian, but also the pearl of the Baltics. The Historic Centre of Riga or Old Town Riga is listed in the UNESCO's World Heritage List. Every century has left its path in the face of Riga, and it can be seen in architecture, in Old Riga and Riga city centre where, along Alberta Street, the Art-Noveau towers and facades intersects with medieval buildings and old wooden architecture.
Riga has hidden hundreds and even thousands of stories. The most popular tourist path leads down the narrow, cobbled streets of the Old Town Riga, such as Rozena Street, the narrowest street in Riga, where, if you try hard enough, it is possible to reach the wall of houses on the other side of the street. The most spectacular building, which allows you to explore the panoramic view of Riga as well as surrounding churches of Old Riga is from the tower of St. Peter`s Church, which is 72 m tall. The lovely Three Brothers houses, the Jauniela Street pastel colours, the Swedish Gate and the spectacular Dome Square opens a breathtaking view of the Old Town Riga.
Near the conference venue, Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel, you can view Vermanes Garden, while further is located Kronvalda Park that offers a place for a rest with fountain and benches, which is a great location to enjoy sunshine or have a picnic.
Riga is clearly a gastronomic destination with a restaurant specific fusion kitchen. You can taste food that is typical for Latvia, traditional recipes and meals from local chefs with a surprising combination of seasonal ingredients.
The National Library of Latvia or also known as the Castle of Light is one of the most important cultural projects of the 21st century – a modern culture and information centre, which also provides an impressive view from upper floors to Riga panorama.
Riga offers a dynamic cultural life bringing together world-class artists as in art museums you can see works of classical and contemporary artists, while in a relaxed atmosphere in evenings you can listen to the outdoor concerts of various artists at K. K. fon Stricka Villa or in Tallinn Street Quarter which is a popular place among locals for entertainment.
Explore, see and enjoy Riga at the International Biometric Conference 2022.
